While we started in the milk delivery business, the early stages of our excipient and cell nutrition product lines go way back to 1916. It was then that Sheffield discovered how to produce lactose by separating the components of milk. Later, we expanded our portfolio with the advent of protein hydrolysates and yeast extract for use in fermentation and tissue culture media.
